This 2019 Wild Creek Vineyard Zinfandel opens with intense aromas of boysenberry and raspberry and is enriched by layers of spice. Bright acidity and silky tannins round out this elegant restrained wine.
The grapes were hand-harvested on September 30, 2019 and fermented in open-top vats with hand punchdowns occurring twice a day, after which the must is basket-pressed and barrel-aged 15 months in French oak, 3% new.
Harvested from one of the few heritage vineyards remaining in Sonoma County, this Wild Creek Zinfandel speaks to the history of the vines and the terroir. Planted in iron-rich soils that are well drained, the old vines produce small, concentrated berries that result in intense fruit flavors.
