Since apples were planted on Sonoma's Coast by Russian explorers in 1811, Sonoma's Sebastopol region has been world famous for its perfect expression of the unique apple terroir. Born again in prominence, the apple is no longer the captive of Sonoma's wine world as winemakers are tempted by the forbidden fruits of nature to explore the titillating flavors of Sonoma apple cider. With a winemaker's pedigree, and a Franco-American influence, Jean-Charles Boisset and Brian Maloney, Winemaker at DeLoach Vineyards and Buena Vista Winery, united their winemaking know-how with curiosity for the apple terroir of Sonoma to create La Captive.
