Aromas of raspberry coulis, red plum, strawberry, and baking spices on the nose. Dried cranberry, Alpine strawberries, and sweet/tart cherries on the palate of this 2020 Pinot Noir. This is a medium-bodied wine with an outstanding texture and a long finish.
To create our 2020 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, grapes were predominantly hand-harvested from the certified Sonoma Sustainable BCD Vineyard, the sustainably farmed Heintz Vineyard and the Organic and Demeter Certified DeLoach Estate. Each of these Russian River Valley Vineyards contribute their unique complexities to the final blend.
The BCD Vineyard consists of five distinct blocks within the vineyard with soils varying from Huichica clay loam to heavier clay being found in some of the lower lying portions of the vineyard. Located in the town of Occidental, the Heintz Vineyard is located in the Green Valley sub AVA and is planted to four distinct clones. The Swan and Pommard clones have traditionally provided a concentrated mouthfeel and earthy characteristics to the wines made from the vineyard, while the 113 and Beringer clones bring more spice and tannic intensity to the wines.
2020 kicked o with ideal growing conditions. Mild temperatures led to evenly developed clusters and an early budbreak was followed by a warm to hot summer. Low winter rains resulted in smaller berries with concentrated flavors. Harvest started in early August and all things pointed to normal yields and exceptional fruit quality.
