2021 Pennacchio Vineyard Pinot Noir

VINEYARD NOTES

The Pennacchio Vineyard is located in the cool southwestern reaches of the Sebastopol hills. The vineyard is on an easterly-facing slope beneath coastal ridges that protect it from the ocean's cooling fog. The vineyard is planted with a single Pinot Noir selection - Clone 115 - on Saint George rootstock. This unusual pairing of clone and rootstock contributes to more robust growth, delayed ripening, and larger clusters. The fruit from this vineyard is the very definition of our focus on terroir.

WINEMAKER NOTES

Hand-picked at optimal ripeness between September 18th, the berries were de-stemmed and punched down by hand in wooden vats. Basket pressed directly to barrel, the wine finished its fermentation upon its lees before being racked and aged for 16 months in 100% French oak.

The 2021 Pinot Noir from the Pennacchio Vineyard presents the senses with distinctive, enveloping aromas, where the scents of aromatic nutmeg, fragrant allspice, and zesty orange come together in harmony. The palate is graced by the bold and succulent fruit flavors of deep cherry, vibrant raspberry, and luscious plum, artfully complemented by hints of aromatic baking spice, toasted almond, and fragrant vanilla bean. This is a wine that exudes luxury and showcases an elegantly textured character, its acidity seamlessly integrated. The finish is radiant with a bright vibrancy, leaving a lasting impression of berry notes.
