A medium-ruby color with aromas of crushed blackberries, wild blueberries with a dusty earth characteristic. The nicely textured palate showcases complex flavors of black cherry and red berries with notes of true and toasted oak. Ripe tannins and a plush finish lead to a savory finish.
This vintage of our Estate selection La Bienvenue comes from the eastern block of our vineyards in the front of the winery and is a blend of the Calera, LT, 23 and 828 clonal selections. The 23 and 828 clones were harvested the first week of September and were whole cluster fermented, allowing darker colors and deeper flavors to develop. The Calera and LT clones were harvested slightly later and contributed minerality, spice and depth of character to the finished wine. All were fermented using their native yeasts in open top fermenters with hand punch downs before being bottled.
