With a rich golden honey color in the glass, our 2015 Estate Chardonnay opens with enticing aromas of musk melon, Fuji apple, and a touch of floral perfume. Warm, full flavors of Asian pear and nutmeg spread across the palate creating a wonderfully rich white wine. With a silky mouthfeel and moderate acidity this wine pairs flawlessly with any meal.
The 2015 vintage in Sonoma County was the earliest harvested vintage to date, beginning in early August and finishing in mid-September. A hot and dry summer led to developed fruit and rich, ripe flavors and while yield was down overall, the smaller berries had concentrated flavors and exceptional quality.
Our Old Wente Clone,
Montrachet Clone and Clone 809 vineyard blocks provided the fruit for this wine. After whole cluster pressing, the juice underwent native yeast fermentation and lees stirring for 10 months. Extending the barrel aging time in French oak to 14 months increased the complexity and rich depth while still retaining the delicate fruit components of this elegant Chardonnay before bottling
